Welcome

4 - 6 March will see the landmark Pierhead Building in Cardiff Bay become the venue for the first ‘Pierhead Sessions’, an engaging and entertaining series of events, discussions and lectures including ‘how to create a sustainable future’, ‘the impact of being home to Doctor Who ’, ‘the future of journalism’, and ‘the role of Speakers of Parliament in promoting democracy’.

Pierhead Sessions will provide a chance for young people to become global citizens, viewing films from Africa and a unique performance by Sherman Youth Theatre’s groundbreaking project Kontakt. Ten students studying journalism will be offered a chance to work on ’Pierhead Sessions TV’, interviewing guest speakers.

Dafydd Elis-Thomas AMNew music will be a feature of the Pierhead Sessions with Radio One’s Huw Stephens in association with Sŵn, during a late night session at the Norwegian Church, and the Sessions will host to The Dockers Run – a social gaming experience at the cutting edge of large scale street theatre.

All these events are staged with the enthusiastic help of partners, marking together the 10th year of the National Assembly for Wales on its estate of public buildings in Cardiff Bay, where all are welcome to join in what I hope will be the first of many Pierhead Sessions!
